Desktop Guide and Practice Manual to Inform Quality Practice for Working with Youth in Confinement, National Institute of Corrections

This Desktop Guide to Quality Practice for Working with Youth in Confinement was created by the National Institute of Corrections in order to create a resource that systematically assesses conditions of confinement, outlines ways to improve conditions, and provides information and resources to juvenile justice leaders and advocates. The purpose of this guide is “to provide practitioners—line staff, supervisors, and administrators—along the various points on the youth-custody continuum with an operational resource that describes promising and effective practices that are rooted in theory and tested by research.” The guide is meant to inform staff of training content, supplement and support presentation by juvenile justice leaders, craft lesson plans for teaching justice-involved youth, etc.
