Juvenile Justice Youth Leadership Council (JJYLC) at the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights (LCCR)
The JJYLC is a collective of passionate, committed and diverse young leaders who share a common goal of alleviating injustices within Louisiana’s juvenile justice system. The Council is dedicated to empowering young people across Louisiana to develop a collective voice and the skills necessary to dismantle injustices within the system. Their goal is to work collectively with stakeholders, and create systems where youth voices are informing leadership, advocacy, and policy decisions – giving youth equity in decision-making. The JJYLC hosts a biweekly radio show called Youth Justice Unfiltered – offering youth an opportunity to showcase their talent and provide commentary on local or world issues. The JJYLC also organizes community forums on topics of interest to youth and holds an annual youth summit for youth organizations to build partnerships with each other. Support for the JJYLC is provided by the staff of the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights.
